Val di Rabbi
One of the most picturesque Alpine valleys
Val di Rabbi is one of Trentino's most beautiful valleys, thanks to its pristine-kept natural environment, most of which is included within the boundaries of the Stelvio National Park. An easy road running along the banks of the crystal-clear, tumultuous and fish-rich Rabbies stream, winds up the entire valley for about 12 km - starting at 800 m a.s.l. and ending at 1,400. The first town on the way up is Pracorno, featuring a large number of farm houses, followed a short way up by San Bernardo, the valley's public services centre.
By following the road along the stream, you get to Rabbi Fonti, where the Spa and the Park's Visitors Information Centre are located. Further up, in a dominating position, is the hamlet of Piazzola. The sight offers viewers green mountain slopes, thick conifer forests and the peaks of the Ortles-Cevedale group.
One of Val di Rabbi's richest resources is water, and it is famous for the bicarbonate-alkaline, ferruginous, highly carbonated sparkling mineral water that is the driving force of its Spa industry, renowned since ancient times. Indeed, its therapeutic properties were already famous back in 1650, and many important personalities has come here to enjoy them throughout the centuries.
